Slovakia and German Federal States Loosen Bans on Truck Transport

The German Federal Office for Goods Transport (BAG) has published information about the loosening of the ban on transport through the federal states. According to BAG, until January 18, 2021, the ban on movement is removed in federal states Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and North Rhine-Westphalia; the ban on movement is removed until January 31 in federal states Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein, Saxony-Anhalt, Hamburg, Thuringia and Baden-Wurttemberg; the bans on transport related to the supply of vaccination centers are lifted in federal states Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Schleswig-Holstein, Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony-Anhalt, Hamburg, Berlin, Thuringia and Baden-Wurttemberg, until June 30, 2021.


The Slovakian transporters association CESMAD Slovakia also announced exemptions from ban on truck transport during the upcoming holidays – on December 24, 25 and 26 and on January 1 and 6.

The exemption pertains to all trucks on highways, roads reserved for motor vehicles, I-class roads and international traffic roads which enter the territory of Slovakia from one of the neighboring countries, with the final destination in Slovakia, the Ivanovic Law Office announces.
