Duboka Prerada Facility at Pancevo Oil Refinery Put into Operation – Investment Worth More Than EUR 300 Million, Local Coke Fuel to Be Used Finally

The Duboka Prerada facility at the Pancevo Refinery, in which over EUR 300 million had been invested, started working yesterday.

The construction of the Duboka Prerada (“Deep Processing”) facility is the second phase of the modernization of the Pancevo Oil Refinery, and as NIS announced earlier, over seven million working hours were invested in the construction of the new complex, 1,100 people worked on the project on average each day, and more than 80% of the workers were local contractors.

As NIS announced earlier, Duboka Prerada will enable the production of greater quantities of diesel, petrol and liquefied oil gas, as well as a new product – coke fuel, which has been imported so far. The Refinery will no longer produce high-sulfur-content mazut, which will contribute to the reduction of the emission of gases and powdered matters into the air.

– Duboka Prerada will enable us to produce larger quantities of the best quality fuels – diesel, petrol and liquefied oil gas. Local production of oil coke fuel, which we have had to import, is also to start. The expansion of the range of products at the Refinery will additionally improve the energy stability of Serbia – NIS says.

NIS has announced that the completion of this project does not mean the end of the modernization of the oil processing complex in Pancevo and announced that the leading stakeholders in NIS, the Russian company Gazpromneft and the Republic of Serbia, will continue investing and strengthening the competitiveness of the refinery.

The ceremony of the commissioning of Duboka Prerada was attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Mining and Energy Minister Zorana Mihajlovic.
