Slovenia invested 704m USD in Serbia in eight years

- Slovenia's direct investments in Serbia in the period 2001-2009 amounted to 704m USD, while total investments in money and goods are estimated at over 1bn USD - Bojan Janković, the Deputy Director of the Investment and Export Promotion Agency of Serbia (SIEPA), said last night (April 8, 2010).

- Slovenia ranks seventh in amount of investments in Serbia and, with 400 companies opened in Serbia, it is among top five countries in that field - Janković said at the meeting of Slovenian Business Club in Belgrade.

- Slovenian had various investments in Serbia, but the most significant are those in financial sector, insurance, food industry and building industry - he said and reminded that the expansion of Gorenje's capacities in Valjevo were expected, as well as completion of investment of 21m EUR by company Cinkarna in the municipality of Inđija.

The investments of Serbian companies in Slovenia in the period 2001-2009 amounted to less than 100m USD.

- The foreign-trade exchange between the two countries has been continuously growing since 2001 and it reached the amount of 5.3bn USD last year - said Janković.

People in SIEPA are of the opinion that the cooperation between the countries could be improved through facilitation of the export of products from Serbia to Slovenia, better cooperation between inspection agencies and stimulation of technical-technological cooperation.
