The construction of the central facility for the treatment of waste waters is one of the capital investments and a very important investment for Zrenjanin, and the job will be carried out by Metito Utilities from Dubai.

The project is a part of a larger, interstate project, since Serbia has signed an agreement on cooperation with the United Arab Emirates. Based on that agreement, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management signed the Memorandum of Understanding which pertains to waste water treatment, it is said on the website of the City of Zrenjanin.

Metito Utilities will directly invest EUR 22 million, and the facility will be built in a location next to the Industrial Zone Southeast.

– The company, in addition to contributing to making Zrenjanin a better and healthier city, more ecologically sustainable, is also bringing high-quality technologies, with business references from 46 countries. Serbia is now one of those countries, and Zrenjanin is the first city that will be on that map of sophisticated technology when it comes to waste water treatment – said the mayor of Zrenjanin, Simo Salapura.

He said that, according to the plan, the construction of the treatment facility should start within 12 months and that the construction should take no more than 20 months. In addition to that, Salapura pointed out, 40 people will be employed at the facility, and its capacity will be sufficient to cover the whole city.
