Minimum wage in Luxembourg - 1,642 EUR

Minimum wage in Croatia is three times higher than Bulgarian and four times lower than the one in Luxembourg. With legally determined minimum wage of about 385 EUR, Croatia has one of the highest minimum wages of all the countries in transition.

According to the data provided by Eurostat, Slovenia has the highest minimum wage of all the new members of the European Union, with the exception of Malta where the minimum wage amounts to 630 EUR.

On the other hand, Luxembourg had the highest minimum wage in the EU in 2009 - 1,642 EUR. According to the European statisticians, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Great Britain and Ireland have legally determined minimum wages larger than 1,000 EUR.

Certain number of the EU members, including Germany, Austria, Italy and Scandinavian countries, do not have legally determined minimum wage. When it comes to the candidates for membership in the EU, only Croatia and Turkey have legally determined minimum wage.

Bulgarian minimum wage three times lower than Croatian

Slovenia and Malta are the only new members of the EU with higher minimum wage than Croatian. Bulgaria has the lowest minimum wage in the EU.

Bulgarian minimum wage amounts to only 123 EUR, which is three times lower than in Croatia.
