Vip Mobile invested 264m EUR in development of network

Mobile operator Vip Mobile announced today (April 1st, 2010) that it had invested over 264m EUR in Serbia to the date.

It is specified in the statement that the the major share of investments were placed in development of modern mobile network and that Vip's signal now covers 98% of the territory.

Mobilcom Austria, a part of which Vip Mobile, paid 320m EUR for the mobile telephony license in December 2006 and it started providing services in July 2007 by using the network of Telekom Srbija.

As the people in Vip Mobile pointed out, now the signal is transmitted through their own infrastructure almost everywhere in Serbia, while the national roaming service is used only in few areas where Vip has not built its own network yet.

People in Vip also said that they used two frequency bands in the mobile network - 900 MHz for optimal coverage and 1,800 MHz for the quality and capacity.

At the end of 2009 Vip Mobile had 1.15m subscribers in Serbia and over 700 experts and managers in its service.
