Funds Secured for Waste Water Treatment System for Zlatibor and Moravica Districts – Regional Project Worth EUR 69 Million

At a meeting held on October 2, in Uzice, representatives of the Ministry of European Integration, assistant minister Dusan Carkic and Aleksandra Radinovic, notified the presidents of the municipalities of Arilje, Pozega, Ivanjica and Kosjeric and the mayor of the city of Uzice that the conditions, that is, the necessary funds, had been secured for the continuation of the activities on the preparation of the documentation for the project of the Regional Waste Water Treatment for the Zlatibor and Moravica Districts.

When it comes to this project, in the past period, the Preliminary Feasibility Study for the Project of Regional Waste Water Treatment for the Local Self-Governments of Uzice, Pozega, Kosjeric, Arilje and Ivanjica was prepared. Four options, from a decentralized to a fully centralized system, have been considered.

– Two options are now being considered. The first one entails a central facility for Uzice, Pozega, Ivanjica and Arilje and a local one for Kosjeric. The second option is for Uzice, Pozega and Arilje to be connected to a regional facility and for Ivanjica and Kosjeric to have separate facilities. The feasibility study will provide the final decision about which option is to be picked as the optimal one – it is said on the website of the City of Uzice.

The value of the entire investment in solving the issue of waste waters in these five local self-governments is around EUR 69 million. The project entails the extension of the system for the collection of waste waters within each of said local self-governments (secondary network), the construction of the main collector to the facility and the construction of the facility itself, whether it's a local facility or a regional facility.
