Industrial Production in August Larger Compared to Last August, Lower Compared to 2019 Average

The industrial production in the Republic of Serbia in August 2020 increased by 4.2% on average relative to August 2019, while relative to 2019 average, it decreased by 0.4%, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia announced.

Industrial production in the period January – August 2020 decreased by 0.7% compared to the same period last year.

Observed by sections, in August 2020 compared with August 2019, growth of 11.2% was recorded in the section of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply manufacturing, whereas the section of manufacturing grew by 3% and the section of section of mining and quarrying grew by 1.8%.

The data on industrial production by MIGS in August 2020, compared to August 2019, expressed growth in the production of capital goods, by 11.3%, durable consumer goods, by 7.9%, intermediate products, energy excluded, by 6.6%, non-durable consumer goods, by 2.2%, and energy, by 1.4%.

The largest influence on industrial production growth in August 2020 compared to August 2019 was made by the divisions of: generation of electricity, manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, manufacture of wearing apparel, manufacture of basic metals, and manufacture of chemicals and chemical products.
