Agency for Chemicals formed - jobs for 32 people

By the decision of the Government of Serbia, the Agency for Chemicals has been formed and its Administrative Board has been appointed. According to the "ID card" of the Agency, it is an independent, development and expert and regulatory organization, which will be submitting reports on its work and results to the Government.

Jelena Cvetković, the Director of the Agency, says that maximum 32 people are planned to be on the Agency's pay list in 2010.

She says that, due to expected growth of work and the need for employment of Ph.Ds in chemistry, toxicology and ecotoxicology, the number of workers may be increased to 45 during the next five years.

By the way, the Agency took over 16 workers of the Ministry of Environment who worked on the management of chemicals and biocides.

- The salaries of the majority of employees will be financed from the fees for launching chemicals and biocide products in the market, which will be collected from manufacturers and importers. Only small number of employees will be receiving salaries from the budget - says the Director.

The task of the Agency is to establish and run an integral registry of chemicals, to design manuals that will help the users in application of regulations, to form an info-point for entrepreneurs who deal with production of chemicals...
