The Minister of Telecommunications and IT Society, Jasna Matić, said that it was good for the public to be introduced to the state's intention to sell Telekom in order not to be speculated on the subject.
- It is good that the public knows the Government's intentions. The state will do its best to achieve the greatest benefit...It should be clear to the citizens why a big inventory of the company and other preparations are being done - Jasna Matić told TV B92.
She expressed expectation that the Government would soon decide what part of Telekom the state, which owns 53% of the company's stocks, was ready to sell, as well as that the minimum selling price would be determined soon.
According to her words, after that decision, it will take two or three months for a public call and an international tender to be completed, while the main potential buyer is German Deutsche Telekom.
- More potential investors are expected, including one Egyptian and one Turkish company - the Minister added.
- It is clear that the state's intention is to privatize state-owned companies - said Jasna Matić.
