Wheat Production Higher by 17.3% Compared to 2019

According to the previous data as of September 5, 2020, realized production of wheat amounts to 2.9 million tons, which is by 17.3% more than the previous year production.

Realized production of raspberries increased by 7.4% and of sour cherries by 70.9%, announced the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia.


Expected maize production amounts to around 8 million tons, which is by 9.6% more than production in the previous year.

Compared to 2019, increased production is expected referring to soy (by 15.1%), and decreased production is expected referring to sunflower (by 8.8%) and sugar beet (by 10.5%).

Compared to ten-year average (2010-2019), production of wheat increased by 17.8%, of maize by 29.4%, of sunflower by 26.3% and of soy by 60.3% and decreased was the production of sugar beet by 25.7%.

Compared with the production realized in the previous year, increased production of plums (by 4.2%) and decreased production of apples (by 2%) is expected.

The Statistical Office says that, relative to ten-year average, increased production of apples (by 21.3%) and of plums (by 37.3%) is expected. Expected grapes production in the Republic of Serbia is smaller by 2% than in 2019, which is 1.8% less compared to ten-year average production.
