Soon new system for discovery of smuggling on the Danube

The representatives of Customs Administration of Serbia and European Customs and Fiscal Aid Office (CAFAO) have represented the System for Early Notice DREWS, which is installed on the Danube and it will serve as the support to the electronic control of transportation of goods and passengers.

DREWS was developed in cooperation with Hungary and Croatia and it will use coded electronic system for exchange of messages in Southeast Europe (SEMS). This pilot project will soon obtain permanent status and it will be broadened. It will also be represented to the other Danubian countries - Romania and Bulgaria, as well as Moldavia and Ukraine.

DREWS system is installed in customs offices Mohač in Hungary, Bezdan in Serbia and Vukovar in Croatia and it functions according to principle of e - mail messages, part of which is the form in which the customs official fills data on ship and goods it transports. The system is cheaper because it requires only computer and software and it will be soon installed in Apatin, Bačka Palanka, Novi Sad, Belgrade, Smederevo, Veliko Gradište, Kladovo and Prahovo.
