- Serbia will present the tourist offers of Belgrade, Novi Sad and Vojvodina's farms at the Tourism Fair in Berlin to German tourists - the State Secretary for Tourism in the Ministry of Economy, Goran Petković, said yesterday (March 11, 2010).
He told Beta agency that German tourists were interested in coming to Serbia when there were some concrete offers such as, for example, bicycle route EuroVelo 6 alongside the Danube, which had been presented in 2009.
- Last year, 3,500 bicyclists followed the bicycle route alongside the Danube and most of them were Germans - said Petković.
Petković said that the Government of Serbia was backing the efforts of tourist workers and those who were developing tourist capacities to bring visitors to Serbia.
He announced that the meeting dedicated to categorization of catering facilities would be held that day and that the new system of categorization in Serbia would be presented on that occasion.
German tourists spent 81,926 nights in Serbia last year, 1% more than in 2008.
In 2009, Germans ranked fifth in the number of overnight stays in Serbia, while total number of such stays amounted to 1.5m.
International Tourism Stock Exchange ITB 2010 in Berlin, which gathered over 11,000 participants from 180 countries in 2009, lasts prior to March 14th.
