– Sava Square, tonight, former Railway Station building. The recently rebuilt facade features new decorative lighting. The building's beauty is now fully apparent. I am proud – Vesic said.
The deputy mayor added that the central building on the Sava Square would become the Nikola Tesla Museum, “the largest and the most representative in the world”.
The moving of the museum has been discussed for a long time now. This June, the head urban planner of Belgrade, Marko Stojcic, confirmed that the Government of Serbia had decided to move the Nikola Tesla Museum to the building of the old Railway Station.
– Due to this situation, we have not been able to clarify this, but we are acting as if it will come true. I am sure that it will be a great exhibit – Stojcic said, as RTS reported at the time.
The Property Directorate of the Republic of Serbia was the investor in the development of the facade and the reconstruction of the railway station, and the job was entrusted to the Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments of the City of Belgrade.
Let us remind that the building of the main Railway Station in Belgrade was closed in July 2018, after 134. Since then, the main railway station for the local and the international transport has been Prokop.
