Event Industry Representatives Say That This Branch Faces Disappearance Without Help

Representatives of event industry have organized a performance in the city center aiming to point to the difficult position that organizers of weddings and other events and celebrations have found themselves in, given that the organization of such gatherings is forbidden due to the coronavirus pandemic, and appealed to the state to help them.

Today, in front of the National Assembly of Serbia, through an improvised wedding ceremony, as they pointed out, they wanted to turn attention to the very difficult situation they are in.

The president of the Event Industry Association, Marijana Vukadin, told the press that they had sent an appeal to the president, the prime minister and the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia that day to help them and give suggestions for the problems that event industry is facing, as it has practically not made any profit since March.

– We are not recognized as a special branch of the economy and we are put in the category of hospitality facilities, such as cafes, restaurants, clubs, hotels, all of which are somehow operating, whereas we are not, because celebrations are banned. Our activities are at a zero and we have been struggling to survive for months now – Vukadin said.

As she says, event industry consists of over 1,000 companies, namely, wedding organizers, photographers, wedding dress shops, cameramen, wedding ceremony rooms and more than 20,000 employees.

With the ongoing pandemic and without help, this economy branch is certain to disappear completely, representatives of the association say.
