Design of feasibility study for port in Šabac

At the meeting held in Free Zone Šabac it was pointed out that the construction of big international port on the Sava near Šabac was of strategic, regional and national importance.

The experts estimated that the revival of traffic on this river would give even more stimulation to the development of economy of Šabac, as well as entire region of Sava - Drina - Majevica, which uses port of Šabac as the fastest and the most efficient connection to Europe.

The conclusion at the meeting was that the design of the feasibility study for construction of this port, backed by the Government, should commence. There was recommendation that Free Zone Šabac should obtain status of public company and become property of local self-management as soon as possible.

Cleaning of river bed of the Sava, helped by donations and credits approved by EU, could start already in Spring 2006, as well as construction of international port in Šabac.
