Adria Airways flies from Belgrade to Ljubljana again after 18 years

After more than 18 years, Slovenian air transportation company Adria Airways relaunched the flights from Belgrade yesterday (March 1st, 2010).

The CEO of Adria Airways for Serbia, Orhan Hodžić, said at the press conference that the company's airplanes would be flying from Belgrade to Ljubljana six times a week, every day except Saturday.

He said that the airplane to Belgrade would be departing from Ljubljana at 2 PM, while the departure from Belgrade's airport to Ljubljana is scheduled for 3.45 PM.

The price of the cheapest one-way ticket with all taxes included is 120 EUR, while the price of return ticket is 175 EUR.

Hodžić says that Adria Airways negotiates with Jat Airways, with which the contract on "code share" flights will be signed.

Serbian airliner Jat Airways flies to Ljubljana four times a week - on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

The Ambassador of Slovenia to Belgrade, Jadranka Šturm Kocijan, said that she expected that air route to make it easier and quicker for the guests from Serbia to come to Slovenia and added that it was also important for the economy and tourism.

She said that the number of Serbian tourists in Slovenia in January 2010 had been 50% bigger than in the same period in 2009.

According to the announcement, Adria Airways has about 250 flights a week to about 30 destinations. Its fleet includes 12 airplanes, and it is going to procure two more this spring. The company transported about 1.14m passengers last year.

Adria Airways is the 23rd airliner that will have regular flights from the Belgrade airport this winter season.
