Montenegrin Government provides guarantee for loan for Forge in Nikšić

The Government of Montenegro will give a guarantee for the loan of 26m EUR that the administration of Forge in Nikšić provided for restructuring of the factory.
The Minister of Economy, Branko Vujković, said yesterday (February 25, 2010) to the press that, by making that decision, together with the guarantees that it provided for some earlier, smaller loans, the Government had fulfilled its obligations for Forge's restructuring.
Vujović said that the production in Forge was continued the day before, after it was discontinued in mid-October 2009.
According to Vujović, the Government will keep following if and how the owner of Forge - British-Dutch company Montenegro Speciality Steels, meets the obligations related to maintenance of production and payment of salaries.
Production in Forge was discontinued last autumn with the announcement that the new electrolux furnace would be assembled in spring 2010. The equipment for the furnace has arrived from Turkey and its installation has begun.
