My First Salary Program to Start in Mid-August, Jobs in October

Application of employees and the young seeking jobs within the “My First Salary” program starts in mid-August, and paid work, partially financed by the state, should start in October, Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali told Tanjug.

The employment of 10,000 young people for nine months each will be supported by the state with RSD 20,000 a month for those with high school degrees and RSD 24,000 for those with university degrees.

– This is the right way for the state to make a contribution and take the majority of the load of the first salary for these young people. It is also a way for them to get their first job and their first salary. We thereby incite the employment of the young – Mali said.

During the contest, companies will report how much workers they need and students and graduates will apply for the jobs. This will form a list of those who want to take part in the program, for which RSD 2 billion will be set aside this year alone.

Mali adds that the assumption is that, after nine salaries, the young employees will either stay with their employers or use their newly acquired experience to find another job more easily.

Under the My First Salary program, the rest of the money for the salaries of the young people employed this way is to be provided by the employers.
