The Minister of Economy of Serbia, Mlađan Dinkić, handed the licenses today (February 24, 2010) to the group of six Serbian travel agencies and, thus, accreditted them to organize the group visits of Chinese tourists.

On that occasion, Dinkić said that the licenses were issued in accordance with the agreement that had been signed during the visit of Serbian President Boris Tadić to China in August 2009.

Chinese tourists, as Dinkić pointed out, can not travel to some country if there is no agreement on approved tourist destination with that country.

- Serbia was supposed to select the best travel agencies that are able to host large number of Chinese tourists - he said.

The licenses are granted to Kon Tiki, Top Tours and Glob Metropoliten Tours from Belgrade, Magelan and Kompas from Novi Sad and Kompas from Kragujevac.

Dinkić expressed expectation that more and more Chinese tourists will be visiting Serbia in the future.

The Ambassador of China to Belgrade, Wei Jinhua, said that Serbia was new destination for Chinese tourists and that, over the previous ten years, growing number of Chinese tourists had been travelling abroad.

According to his words, 46m Chinese tourists traveled abroad in 2008.
