Telenor officially got license for second fixed telephony operator in Serbia

The Republic Telecommunications Agency (RATEL) handed the license for the provision of fixed telephony services in Serbia to Telenor on Friday (February 19, 2010) and, thus, put an end to the monopoly in that field.
The CEO of Telenor in Serbia, Chel Morten Jonsen, was handed the license by the CEO of RATEL, Milan Janković, in the presence of the Prime Minister of Serbia, Mirko Cvetković, and the Minister of Telecommunications and IT Society, Jasna Matić.
Telenor paid the license 1,050,000 EUR and it now has one year to start providing services of fixed telephony and ADSL access to Internet.
That company has about 2.8m mobile telephony subscribers in Serbia. It is a member of Norwegian telecommunications group Telenor, which operates in 14 countries.
