Sweden donated 1.16m EUR to Republic Geodesic Institute

The Republic Geodesic Institute and the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) signed the agreement on Friday (February 19, 2010) on implementation of the Development of Capacities in Serbia: Real Estate Registry and Registration of Rights project, of which value is 1.16m EUR.

That is the third phase of the project whose implementation in the Republic Geodesic Institute started in 2004, and the whole project is intended for education of the employees in the Institute with the aim of successful realization of the establishment of the real estate registry. The third phase includes investments in improvement of the institutional capacities of the Republic Geodesic Institute in realization of the real estate registry and registration of rights.

Some of the segments in which previous two phases of donations of Swedish people were used are: development of internal operations and data exchange in the Registry Service, development of digital archives, research of modern mortgage systems, research of market appraisal of real estate value and support to transition to European referential geodesic base.

The CEO of the Republic Geodesic Institute, Nenad Tesla, said that the third phase of the project should improve the Institute's services and operations.

- Functioning of well-established real estate registry will ensure the inflow of foreign investments and accelerate Serbia's progress on its way to European integrations. What is also important for the representatives of Sweden and what we want to insist on in the system of Serbia's government institutions is gender equality and awareness of environment protection, which must be included in the registry information - said the Ambassador of Sweden to Belgrade, Krister Bringeus.
