According to the latest data of the European Commission, Serbia realized a GDP growth of 5% in the first quarter of 2020, which is the best result in the region. Serbia's growth even exceeded that of Turkey, which is at 4.5%.

The EC's report pertains only to countries-candidates or potential candidates.

Behind Serbia are Montenegro (2.7%), Albania (2.5%), Bosnia and Herzegovina (2.0%), North Macedonia (0.2%), and the report also mentions Kosovo and Metohija (1.3%).

Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said that, according to all the estimates, Serbia would have the best result in 2020.

– Next year already, we are going for 6.5% or 7% – Mali said on TV Prva.

As he said, Serbia has had a budget surplus for four years. Mali said that this had enabled the country to come out with a strong economy stimulus package several months before.
