- Telekom Srbija, the only fixed telephony operator in Serbia, and company Telenor, which got the second fixed telephony license, have not reached the agreement on the rental fee for Telekom's capacities, so that the problem will have to be solved by the Republic Telecommunications Agency as a regulatory body - Danas learns from the source close to negotiators.

Telenor announced in January, upon the declaration of the winner on the tender for allotment of the license, that it would have to start the negotiations with Telekom on rental of infrastructure in order to be able to meet the obligations and start with work in one year. It was announced on that occasion that Telekom would be given fair offer based on international standards in that field. However, as we learn, Telenor got Telekom's price list few days ago and found it inappropriate. Since the situation is as it is, there is a possibility now that the Republic Telecommunications Agency declare Telekom as the operator with dominant market share (in that field) and determine the prices of rent for Telekom's capacities as a regulatory agency.

People in Telenor told Danas yesterday (February 18, 2010) that they can not officially confirm that the talks were ended.

- Telenor gave a fair offer to Telekom. We are still willing to do our part of the job when it comes to investments in infrastructure and we expect RATEL to bring the prices and access to Telekom's infrastructure in accord with the valid international standards and its mandate - said the people in that company. On the other hand, people in RATEL did not want to give any comment on the case because they did not receive the official information on the outcome of the talks between the two companies yet, but they claim that there should be no problem as far as rental of infrastructure is concerned.

Such outcome was expected if we remember the statement given by the Minister of Telecommunications, Jasna Matić, before the commencement of negotiations between Telekom and Telenor, who said that she did not expect the two companies to reach the agreement and that everything would have to be resolved by RATEL. Let us remind that Telenor paid the license 1.05m EUR.
