Qatar to open Embassy to Belgrade in 2011

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Vuk Jeremić, who spoke to Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al Thani and Foreign Ministry's Secretary Ahmad Bin Abdul Al Mahmud yesterday (February 15, 2010), announced that Qatar would open the Embassy to Belgrade in 2011.

Jeremić said that the Agreement on economic cooperation and investments, of which draft was determined the day before, would be signed in April in Belgrade, during the visit of Qatari high delegation.

- Improvement of economic cooperation opens a new chapter in the relations between Serbia and Qatar - said Jeremić and pointed out that Qatar was not going to change its position towards Kosovo in spite of huge pressures. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia added that Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Kalifa Al Thani had invited Serbian President Boris Tadić to visit that country by the end of the year.

- Qatar is the world's second richest country and a big investor in central and east Europe. They expressed interest in investments in our country as well - Jeremić specified and added that he had expressed gratitude to the hosts for principal support in Serbia's fight for preservation of territorial integrity.
