MRKONJIĆ: Serbian companies to buy Port Bar

The Minister of Capital Investments, Milutin Mrkonjić, said on February 13th, 2010, in Kraljevo that Serbian companies backed by the Government of Serbia would win on the tender for acquisition of Port Bar.

Mrkonjić said that the tender for acquisition of Port Bar was prolonged for two months.

- Serbia's nearest exit to the sea is Montenegro where I was criticized for political aspirations instead of being praised for 'keeping the wind at their back' because there are not many candidates for takeover of that port - Mrkonjić said to the press in Kraljevo.

- Serbia has the railway that leads to Bar, so if we want to have the railway repaired and make it possible for our citizens to take the shortest route to the seaside, that is the way that some people find political, although I always speak as an expert and civil engineer first - he added.

He pointed out that the economic effect was the most significant when it came to the acquisition of the port in Bar and that the Serbian companies gathered in consortium MK Commerce were interested because of the shortest route to Bar.
