Canadian Reservoir Capital Corp and its Serbia-based company REV opened the office in Prijepolje on February 5, 2010, and they plan to start construction of two hydroelectric power plants of about 50 MW on the Lim river in that town soon.
As it was announced at the press conference, projected annual production of electricity is about 180 GWh, and the investment is estimated at about 120m EUR.
REV's expert adviser Nikola Nikolić said that dams would be 22 and 23 meters high and that the narrowest part of the river canyon would be flooded because the terrain's configuration did not require major relocation of the population.
He said that about seven kilometers of main route Belgrade - South Adriatics would be flooded.
The first hydroelectric power plant will be built three kilometers upstream from Brodarevo and it will have a lake 7.5 km long.
Hydroelectric power plant Brodarevo II will be built above the village of Lučice, with a dam of 250 meters and a lake 10 km long.
These power plants will have so-called fish paths and, according to experts, they won't endanger the environment.
The CEO of Reservoir Capital Corp, Miles Thompson, said that the works would last between 2.5 and 3 years.
He said that 70% of the investment were the costs of construction works, which would be carried out by the companies from Prijepolje and Serbia that met the stipulated conditions.
