- Sawmill in wood industry Kopaonik in Kuršumlija will be put in operation in mid-February - it was decided upon the expert estimate.
The President of the Administrative Board of Kopaonik, Borivoje Urošević, says that the engineers from that industry and factory Simpo from Vranje have not finished the estimate yet on what units in Kopaonik can be put back in operation.
- About 7m RSD need to be invested in the sawmill and the fibreboard production unit, and the plan is that about 400 workers be hired in the first phase, and their number will gradually grow until it reaches 1,000 - said Urošević.
According to his words, sawmill requires smaller investments because the main machines for processing logs have not been sold, while the unit for fibreboard production requires complete reconstruction because of Simpo's intention to produce first-class refined material for export.
- Vranje-based factory Simpo has large number of workers who receive salaries on regular basis. We expect the same model to be applied to Kopaonik's workers - said Urošević.
