Serbia is only country in the world whose rating is improved - from seventh to sixth category with OECD

The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European integrations, Božidar Đelić, said yesterday (February 3, 2010) that Serbia's official rating with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development from Paris, which is relevant to all organizations and business risk insurance agencies, had grown and advanced from the seventh to the sixth category.

Đelić said that, according to OECD's report, Serbia was the only country in the world whose rating was improved.

He points out that the concrete effect of that will be lower prices of credit insurance for the companies that do business with Serbia, while interest rates may be lowered by about 0.2%.

According to his words, that is very important at this moment because it has direct financial effect for the business risk insurance agencies whose users are companies that collaborate with Serbia.

The Deputy Prime Minister also added that it was significant signal to all investors in the world that our country was the only country in the world that had improved its rating at the time of the economic crisis. As he estimated, that is the crown of long-lasting efforts invested by several Serbian governments.

- We think that Serbia will additionally improve that rating in the future - said Đelić and pointed out that it was important that OECD had recognized that after nine years of reforms in Serbia.

According to his words, Serbia should be grateful to many members of OECD for the improvement of rating, especially Germany and France.
