Prior to November 2010, thanks to the donation of the Government of Republic of Slovakia in amount of 225,000 EUR, two projects that will contribute to improvement of water supply system in the Negotin Borderland will be realized.
Slovakia's donation in amount of 90,000 EUR for expansion of water supply network in the nearby village of Šarkamen will provide sufficient quantities of drinking water for all 120 households. So far, there has been enough water only for half of the inhabitants of Šarkamen, while the problem was even worse in the summer season.
Since the boring for new water supply system has already been drilled in Šarkamen, it is expected that the remaining infrastructure works will be finished in couple of months, so that all inhabitants of Šarkamen will have enough drinking water this summer.
IN addition to new water supply system in that village, the donation of the Republic of Slovakia will also be invested in replacement of old azbestos tubing in seven streets in Negotin, 2,350 meters long. The authorized people say that these works, of which value is about 70,000 EUR, will start as soon as the weather allows. Reconstruction of lanes, pavements and street lighting will run parallel to the replacement of tubing in this part of Negotin, in which about 250,000 EUR will be invested by the municipality of Negotin.
