New remote bus tracking system in Belgrade

The Directorate for Public Transportation has tried the new system for remote tracking of vehicles. At the moment, the system track the vehicles on line "24".

Positioning is the satellite one (GPS), whereas the transfer of information goes through GPRS network.

There is possibility of tracking groups of buses of certain territory. It can also be used for control of passing time at the bus stops and lasting of stops due to traffic lights. This technology enables use of unique database.

At the moment, the entire system is in the experimental phase. The tender for remote surveillance of city transportation will be announced by the end of 2005.
