(Gorenje, Valjevo)

Slovenian manufacturer of household appliances, Gorenje from Velenje, will move the production of cooling and freezing appliances to its factory in Valjevo at the end of March. Gorenje opened the unit in Valjevo in 2006.

Relocation of production to Serbia has raised the issue of dismissal of workers in Velenje in Slovenian media, while people in Gorenje are still unable to give any concrete comment on that. Gorenje has total of 10,580 workers in Slovenia, Serbia and Czech Republic, the biggest number of whom work in Slovenia - 7,700.

According to Gorenje's previous announcements, "soft methods of adaptation of the number of employees" will be applied, that is, people in this company estimate that the number of workers will be cut by 350.

However, people in Gorenje also say that the effects of the relocation of production on the number of employees in Slovenia will be known in mid-February.
