Cyprus reopened its airports on June 9, 2020, after nearly three months, in the hope that the results achieved in fighting the coronavirus and the promise of free treatment for anyone who potentially gets infected by COVID-19 will attract tourists to go back to their beaches.

Initially, arrivals will be allowed to people who have tested negatively for coronavirus from several countries, including Germany, Israel and Greece. This requirement will be lifted for those countries on June 20.

The Cypriot authorities say that the decision on who can enter the country will be based on epidemiology data.

Visitors from Russia and Great Britain, which are big tourist markets for Cyprus, are not included yet, although Savvas Perdios, Deputy Minister of Tourism of Cyprus, says that it will happen in mid-July, Reuters reports.
