Postal Company of Serbia invests 1.9 billion RSD in construction of postal centers in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Niš

- The profit of the Postal Company of Serbia (PTT Srbija) in 2009 amounted to 3.9 billion RSD (about 40m EUR), which is 1.2 billion RSD more than in 2008 - Goran Ćirić, CEO of that public company, said today (January 25, 2010).

Ćirić said at the press conference that PTT was expected to register profit in 2010 as well, but he could not specify the amount of expected profit before the meeting of the company's Administrative Board, which is scheduled for January 28th.

- Projected investments in 2010 amount to 4.3 billion RSD, 1.9 billion RSD of which will be invested in construction of main postal centers in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Niš - said Ćirić.

As he explained, construction works on new main postal center in Belgrade, which will enable automated mail sorting, should be finished in December 2010, while the equipping of all three centers should be finished prior to end of 2011.

Ćirić said that the company also started realization of the project, based on which the citizens of Serbia would be able to get birth and citizenship certificates in any post office.

- By the end of March, post offices in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac, Niš and Leskovac will be "networked" - he said and added that connecting of all 170 municipalities in Serbia to the network would be finished within the next two years.

- PTT Srbija had 15,300 workers at the end of 2009, about 300 less than in 2008 - said Ćirić and announced that the funds were set aside in the company's budget for the voluntary leave of the workers in 2010 as well.

CEO of PTT Srbija, Goran Ćirić, said that 80% of stocks of Telekom, which were in the possession of PTT at the moment, would be transferred to the state of Serbia by the end of the year.
