Serbia ranks 104th in economic freedoms - Heritage Foundation announced rank list with 183 countries

This year's ranking of economic freedoms, which is done by US Heritage Foundation in association with daily newspaper Wall Street Journal, Serbia is 104th of total of 183 countries.

With 56.9 points, Serbia is in the fourth group of the 2010 Index of Economic Freedom, which is reserved for "mainly non-free" countries. This year Serbia has 0.3 points more than last year. Just like the last year, the first on the global list of economic freedoms is Hong Kong, followed by Singapore and Australia. The highest-ranked European country is Ireland, which is the 5th, while the United States of America is the 8th. When it comes to the transition countries from the region, the only country that is below Serbia on the list is Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is the 110th. Croatia ranks 92nd, but it made the biggest progress in the region since it was the 119th last year. Montenegro is the 68th, Macedonia is the 56th and Albania is the 53th.

The countries were able to get maximum 100 points, based on 10 factors - from economic transparency through entrepreneurial freedoms and level of corruption to the legal protection.
