World Bank to keep financing planned projects in Serbia in 2010

- The World Bank has not rejected the approval of loans to Serbia in 2010, and it will keep financing the planned projects - the World Bank Belgrade's office announced today (January 21, 2010).

According to the announcement, the World Bank is expected to lend 200m EUR to Serbia in 2010 for support to the budget, and it is expected that the use of earlier approved loans will be improved.

- The approval of new investment loans in 2010 was not included in the current partnership strategy - people from the World Bank's office said and pointed out that much could be done on improvement of the use of existing loans for investments.

That improvement, as it is pointed out, may be achieved through more active support and management of current projects with the aim of stimulating the application and use of the funds.
