Record savings in Komercijalna Banka - citizens' deposits exceed 1 billion EUR


- The saving deposits of the citizens in Komercijalna Banka exceeded the amount of 1 billion EUR on Wednesday, January 13th, which represents one sixth of total amount of foreign currency savings in the country - it was said yesterday (January 19, 2010) at the ceremonious presentation occasioned by that business success.
According to the people from Komercijalna Banka, in addition to record amount of saving deposits, the trust of citizens is also proved by the number of over 540,000 deposits, extended time-deposit structure and accelerated growth of savings.
At the ceremonious presentation, which was attended by the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia, Radovan Jelašić, the President of the Executive Board of the bank, Ivica Smolić, said that the number of saving deposits had grown by 111,000 in 2009.
- The foreign currency savings of citizens grew by 218m EUR. They grew by over 18m EUR every month - Smolić pointed out.
The Governor said that the growth of savings was the proof of citizens' trust in the banking system of Serbia, which was being ruined for decades.
