After the container accommodation was established for the contractor's staff and the earth boring activities for the application of explosives were carried out, the excavation works for the purpose of laying down the foundations of the future wind generators began. The terrain was mined for the future two foundations, and the works continue according to the schedule for the upcoming weeks.
The contractor is the consortium of Siemens Games Renewable Energy Croatia and Wind Power A/S Denmark. Companies HP Investing and Minersko from Sarajevo are hired to carry out the mining and the establishment of the foundations.
The Podvelezje 1 Wind Farm, of 48 MW, is financed with a loan from the German development bank KfW and Elektroprivreda BiH's own funds.
The project is located in the Podvelezje flat area, around 10 km east of the City of Mostar. The expected annual production is around 130 GWh. The construction of this wind farm will substantially increase the share of power production from renewable energy sources at the PE Elektroprivreda BiH.
The PE Elektroprivreda BiH signed a concession agreement for a period of 30 years with the Government of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, and the commissioning of the Podvelezje 1 Wind Farm is expected in the first quarter of 2021.
