New road to Skopje - new crossing on border between Serbia and Macedonia

- New border crossing Goleš - Golema Crcorija should be opened on the border between Serbia and Macedonia by the end of January. This crossing will, finally, facilitate flow of goods and people, especially the ones from the regions of Bosilegrad and Kriva Palanka - the diplomatic sources from Skopje told Novosti.
As it is specified, the last technical conditions concerning the facility intended for border services should be met this week, after which the mixed committee of the ministries of internal and foreign affairs of the two countries should formally make the interstate act on opening of the crossing official.
According to Novosti, that move will prevent the new protests of local population caused by delays in opening of the new border crossing with Serbia. The Mayor of that Macedonian municipality in the east of the country, Arsenčo Aleksovski, told Novosti that the border facility on the crossing was expected to be handed to the authorized organs of the two countries within next few days. Aleksovski points out that border crossing Goleš - Golema Crcorija will additionally close the gap between the population of that region and the region of Bosilegrad in Serbia and enable undisturbed increase in general frequency of people and goods.
Border crossing Goleš - Golema Crcorija will "connect" over 35,000 people from the regions of Bosilegrad in Serbia and Kriva Palanka in Macedonia. Legal communication between the people from these regions has, so far, been carried out through remote border crossings Prohor Pčinjski - Pelice and Preševo - Tabanovce.
