Gold Gondola Could Start Operating in Early August – Waiting for Partners from France

The majority of the Gold Gondola project has been completed, and what remains to be done is a smaller part of the works, together with partners from France, so the test operations can start in early August, the president of the Municipality of Cajetina, Milan Stamatovic, says for eKapija.

According to him, the remaining works pertain to the assembly of the equipment, which couldn't be done during the state of emergency, because, in line with the contract, it requires the presence of the partners from France.

– The remaining works should take about a month. We expect the partners from France to arrive once the air traffic in Serbia is reinstated. It remains to be seen how the state will regulate arrivals and whether there will be a quarantine. If the air traffic starts on May 18, as announced, our partners will be able to come here, so we can expect the test operations to start in August – Stamatovic explains.

As said on the Gold Gondola website, a part of the equipment will be assembled by contractors from Amiga and Jedinstvo, whereas another part of these works will be carried out by the French company POMA.

Let us remind that the construction of Gold Gondola Zlatibor started in 2017, and around EUR 13 million was invested in the project. The 9-km gondola will be able to transport 600 passengers per hour from the mountain center to the Tornik peak, in 55 cabins.
