Payment of Minimum Wage to Around a Million Employees Begins

The Treasury of the Republic of Serbia today started paying minimum wages to employees at private companies which have applied for state aid, says Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali.

He said that the minimum wage, which is slightly above 30,000 dinars, would be paid to 1,051,000 employees, and the state will pay RSD 32 billion today for that purpose to the accounts of the 232,000 companies which have applied for the aid.

The aid will be paid in three installments. In other words, in a month, the employees will get another minimum wage and then another one.

As part of the program of economic measures for mitigating the negative consequences to the economy, the employers will get state aid in the form of three minimum wages in the total amount of EUR 750 (around RSD 90,000).

From January 2020, the average minimum wage in Serbia is RSD 30,022.
