Plan made for Ice Arena in Novi Sad - Construction of Winter Sports Hall worth 2.5m EUR within next few years

The initiative for construction of the Winter Sports Hall in Novi Sad is supported by the Executive Council of Vojvodina and the city of Novi Sad, and the proposal for construction of that facility was presented at the yesterday's (January 12, 2010) meeting that was attended by Dr. Rene Fasel, the President of the International Hockey Association and the Executive Board of the Olympic Committee for Winter Sports.
The plan is that the hall be built within the Novi Sad Fair, and financing of the project, which will cost about 2.5m EUR, should be made possible through joint participation of public and private sector.
New ice arena should be built within the new facility of the Fair, which is planned to be be built on the surface of 22 ha. The facility will be built in three phases and it will cost about 25m EUR. The first phase anticipates construction of the part of the building facing the provincial hospital at 31,620 square meters, and the ice arena should be built in the vicinity of hotel "Sajam". The hall will comprise Olympic skating rink (60x30 meters), six locker rooms, premises for sports clubs, fitness center, food, drink and souvenir shops, parking lot...
Organization of ski school and hockey school are in the pipeline, as well as skating, carling and broomball contests.
