Foreign currency savings in Serbia exceeded 6 billion EUR

- Foreign currency savings in Serbia reached 6.14 billion EUR at the end of 2009, which is the highest amount since 2001 - the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) announced today (January 12, 2009).

Foreign currency savings in Serbia grew by 1.23 billion EUR in 2009, 640.3m EUR of which were deposited during the last two months.

"Growth of foreign currency savings is the proof of citizens' greater trust in the banks that survived the economic crisis and managed to return old and attract new saving deposits thanks to their active policies and the measures of the state and NBS", it is stated in the announcement by the central bank.
