Contract between companies "Ikarbus" and "Breda menarinibus" to be signed on January 20th?

Negotiations with the representatives of Italian company "Breda menarinibus" have not been finished yet, and I hope for their successful completion. The contract was not signed in December because of some technical details - Aleksandar Vićentić, the CEO of "Ikarbus", told "Danas" and pointed out that he can not speak about that. According to his words, the contract on business-technical cooperation may be signed on January 20th, just like it was announced.

On the other side, the Privatization Agency has started the procedure for restructuring of "Ikarbus" and invited creditors of the factory to submit their claims, which exceed 16m EUR. The Italian factory was obviously not ready to sign the prepared contract with "Ikarbus" (whose account is blocked because of the debt for loans of 8.4m EUR) or provide social programme for surplus workers (about 350 of them). As daily newspaper "Danas" learned from "Ikarbus", after the signing of the contract was unsuccessful, the Government of Serbia quickly decided to lay off surplus workers, 380 of them, with appropriate social programme. The workers who stayed in the factory, about 300 of them, had nothing to do yesterday (January 12, 2010), but they do not strike. They received one of six salaries that the company owes to them in mid-December and 5,000 RSD just before the New Year.

By the way, Italian company "Breda menarinibus" is interested in rental of "Ikarbus" on period of two years ( 2010 and 2011), during which about 500 buses would be produced, which is considered to be a good deal and sufficient for employment of the units and commencement of production. Cooperation between "Ikarbus" and that company lasts for more than two years. British company "Hiltec", which produces electric and internal combustion engines, is interested in rental of "Ikarbus" as well.
