- Reconstruction of railways in Kralja Aleksandra Boulevard, with the works on relocation of the tracks to the middle part of the junction in the section between Vukov Spomenik and market Cvetkova Pijaca, and reconstruction of railway tracks in Karađorđeva Street, between the Sava Square and the Pier, are some of the most significant works of City Transportation Company "Beograd" in 2010 - said Radoslav Nikolić, the CEO of the City Transportation Company "Beograd".
– Besides, we still need to close the tender for procurement of 83 new low-floor single trolleybuses, which is of huge importance to our company, as well as all citizens of Belgrade. Last year the contract was signed on purchase of 30 new low-floor trams, so that our motor pool will look much more modern in few years – Mr. Nikolić pointed out.
Nikolić estimated last year as very successful because the reconstruction of railway tracks was started, and even completed in some locations, in Vojvode Mišića Boulevard, Tadeuša Košćuška Street, Resavska Street and Požeška Street. Special vehicle for maintenance of reconstructed tram sections was bought in 2009, and about 600m RSD was saved thanks to different organization of maintenance of vehicles.
– We were saving about 50m RSD per month at average. We will keep saving money in 2010 by implementing the project for unique measuring of electricity on our electric grid – said Nikolić.
Completed reconstruction of tram tracks, network and turntables in Jurija Gagarina Street and Dr Ivana Ribara Street in New Belgrade is, also, of great importance to City Transportation Company "Beograd" .
