Maxillofacial surgery clinic was opened in Niš before Christmas. The new building occupies the space of 1,500 square meters, and it will be the referential institution for all patients from Jagodina to Preševo in the south and Dimitrovgrad in the east, as well as for those from the territory of Kosovo and Metohia.
The facility, of which construction lasted for years, has three operating rooms (one for emergency interventions), 25 beds and an intensive care unit, which put Niš, together with Belgrade and Novi Sad, in the group of cities that have this type of medical institution.
- We have patients from the whole region, their frequency is high, so that the opening of separate clinic in modernly equipped building was necessary - Professor Dr. Dragan Krasić, the Director of the Stomatology Clinic, explained.
- We insisted for years on opening of such institution and creation of maximum conditions for work. Now the up-to-date head and neck surgeries and all interventions from the field of maxillofacial surgery can be done in this institution. It is also important that our students will have excellent conditions to study in the multimedia center.
This center offers the possibility to future dentist to directly watch surgeries in the operating rooms that are equipped with cameras. Audio-link, which is established between the multimedia center and the room, makes it possible for the students to ask the surgeons questions during the surgery.
As the people from the clinic's management explain, the equipment satisfies all standards of European Union, which are quite stric, but the new facility managed to meet all of them.
