New factory of drinking water for 50,000 people put into operation in Bojnik, construction of another 2 pools in the pipeline


After numerous problems, the drinking water factory in Bojnik has been put into operation. So far, about €80m have been invested in the factory. Construction of another 2 pools is in the pipeline, which will result in additional 210 liters of water per second. In that way, the problem with supply of water to 50,000 citizens of Bojnik and Doljevac, as well as several settled places in Municipality of Leskovac, will obtain long-term solution.
This factory will be processing water from artificial lake built near Gornji Brestovac in the foothill of Radan mountain. Accummulation lake has capacity of 10 million cubic meters of water and hydro-system prevents flooding of the Pusta and the Magaške rivers, flooding and errosion of agricultural land, regulates water level and irrigation of 500 ha of cultivated fields.
