The Government of Serbia has adopted the Decision on the status of foreign citizens in the Republic of Serbia during the state of emergency.

The decision says that foreign residents with legal residence in the Republic of Serbia under any stipulation proscribed in the Law on Foreigners, on the date of the declaration of the state of emergency, can stay legally in Serbia for the duration of the state of emergency, without the need for a further defining of their status.

It goes on to say that ID cards issued to foreigners in line with said law, as well as ID cards for asylum seekers and persons to whom asylum was granted in line with the Law on Asylum and Temporary Protection, and whose validity expires during the state of emergency, are considered valid until the state of emergency is in effect.

– For the duration of the state of emergency and until the conditions are met for a safe collection of biometric data from foreigners, the procedures related to the collection of such data are temporarily suspended – the Decision reads.
