AERS gave consent for rules governing work of all five power supply companies

- The Council of the Energy Agency of Serbia (AERS) has given consent for the rules governing the work of all five power supply companies - that regulatory body announced today (December 28, 2009).

As it is specified, the consent was given at the meeting on December 25th for the rules governing the work of "Electric Power Company of Serbia", Elektrovojvodina, Power Supply Company "Beograd" and the power supply companies of Kraljevo-based Elektrosrbija, "Jugoistok" from Niš and "Centar" from Kragujevac.

The adoption of these rules was the final part of the technical aspect of the power supply system regulation since the Energy Agency previously gave consent, in April 2008, for the Rules governing the work of transfer system, which are in effect since May 2008.

The Rules governing the work of power supply systems define the technical aspects of the relations between the power supply system and the users of that system - buyers and manufacturers, that is, they define the rights and obligations of both sides.

The rules are very important because they create the conditions for opening the electricity market and, as it is pointed out, they will contribute to free access and equal position of the system users, as well as rational development and efficient use of the system.

The rules define the following: technical conditions for connection to the power supply system, access to the system, work planning and the system management, development of the system and measuring electric energy.

The decision of the energy regulatory body was preceded by the two-year process of preparation of the Rules governing the work of power supply systems, which will be put in effect as soon as they are published in the Official Bulletin of Serbia.
