Accountants, auditors and tax consultants expect postponement of certain tax-payment deadlines

Tax consultants, accountants and auditors do not expect a postponement of tax payment for companies, but do expect a postponement of other tax-payment deadlines due to coronavirus, Aleksandar Vasic, the founder of the company Poslovni Savetnik, told eKapija.

He pointed out that tax consultants expected information from the state regarding the deadlines for tax payment and the filing of tax return forms

– We don't expect a postponement of tax payment for companies, such as the VAT, as the state needs to have some kind of income, but we certainly expect a postponement of other deadlines – Vasic says.

He adds that the deadline for the filing of financial reports is one of them.

– The deadline for the filing of financial reports is June 30, but this is a period when the auditing of companies' financial reports is carried out, which requires a lot of flexibility – Vasic says and adds that this is a process which takes a long time.

– It entails 15 to 20 days of constant work to get an auditing report, which is a requirement for the filing of a financial report. If this ends quickly, there will be time for everything, but if not, it will cause problems – our interviewee believes.

Vasic also believes that there could be a problem with salary calculations in companies with external accountancy services.

– Companies whose accountancy is done by agencies depend on what happens at those agencies, which brings into question not just the payments, but the calculation of the salaries as well – Vasic says.
